Basketball Training Attendance:

Game 1: 30th April 2016

LOST: 36 - 25

This was our first ever game as a team. While we did have some practice from our two training sessions prior, we were still new to the sport and were unfamiliar with each other. During the game, we realised how lacking our knowledge was of the rules. As a team, we identified that we needed to improve skills such as dribbling and especially shooting. (LO1)

The first game was definitely a challenge, and as a team we felt quite disappointed at our loss. However this is a chance to develop new skills and face the challenge! (LO2)

Game 2: 7th May 2016

WON: 9 - 20

We won! We were so glad that we won, after our first game we thought we would lose every game in this season! After the first game, in training as a team we went over the basketball basics with our coach (dribbling, shooting, passing). From this we also were starting to bond with each other, making us work more effectively as a team. The benefits of working collaboratively can already be seen through our improved game score. (LO5)

I am very happy with the outcome of this game, and hope that we continue getting scores like this!

Game 3: 14th May 2016

WON 26 - 13

This game we functioned extremely well as a team. The positive benefits of this can be easily seen by how we were able to make effective fast breaks and help eachother. By working together, we can play to our own strengths, seen in the game today when players who are fast runners did the fast break, and the shooters stayed near the goal and have the ball passed to them. However, one disadvantage is that members who are closer friends with teach other, tend to pass the ball to each other, despite other players being in better positions.(LO5)

Game 4: 21st May 2016

LOST: 21 - 7

During this game i recognised the importance of team collaborating and sportsmanship. After recognising that we found it more difficult to score effectively when working independently. In our trainings we have focused on passing. I discovered that my bounce passes are quite weak, and actually have enjoyed practicing this bounce and improving my skills.

Game 5: 28th May 2016

LOST: 27 - 19

As a team we have decided that we need to focus on shooting. We have been practicing different ways of shooting such as lay-ups, two pointers and three pointers. Through these exercises, we have recognised our weaknesses and taken initiative to improve. While the losses are disappointing, this motivates us more and teaches us to persevere during hard times.

Game 6: 4th June 2016

LOST: 20 - 19

We were so close to winning! The team we played against was very competitive and was quite physical. My team fouled alot of times during the game due to this.

The final minutes of the game was very frustrating as we only needed one more shot to win.

Game 7: 18th June 2016

LOST: 19 - 34

While the loss was quite disappointing, overall this season has been a journey where i have learnt my own strengths and weaknesses, and have improved immensely. Most importantly, I feel that we have strengthened as a group, and i truly appreciate the importance of team collaboration, team effort, and sportsmanship. Our team has persevered through the season, despite our losses.
